This European Kestrel sculpture is hand carved from a single piece of limewood.  Once the carving is complete and the glass eyes fitted, the falcon is painted with acrylics .

“I owned a Kestrel (named GTX), many years ago when I was about 15, and it was during this time I became very interested in animal behaviour and animal training. This led on to my becoming a marine mammal trainer, a job which I loved and learnt so much from for 15 years. I’m reminded of this every time I see a kestrel in the wild. Sadly, kestrel numbers are in decline in the UK and are in need of our help.”
